Just Kate Plus 8?
I’ve an avid watcher of Jon and Kate, Plus 8 on TLC. Every Monday night, my roommate and I make sure to tune into the new episode. I’m in love with their sextuplets and simply adore the whole family (Even Madie, who at times is the brattiest 7-year-old I’ve ever seen). So, when I found out that Jon, allegedly, cheated on Kate with a college coed, I was absolutely heartbroken! I couldn’t believe that he would ever do such a thing; they’re so in love on the show. And what about their adorable eight children? He would NEVER do that, right? Apparently not.
This got me thinking, is everyone else that watches this show as brokenhearted as I am? Are all the other devoted viewers as shocked and disappointed by Jon’s behavior? Do we really know the Gosselin family as well as we thought we did? Is their perfect family image all a façade? When watching shows like this, that display every minute of their personal lives, it doesn’t leave much room for privacy. Viewers genuinely feel a connection to this family, like they know them personally. Therefore, when news about infidelity makes its way into the media, what are viewers to believe?
I personally think it’s just a rumor, making something out of nothing. At least, that’s what I want to believe. Not that it would have any affect whatsoever on my life. I realize that I have no real connection to this family and that no family is “perfect”, but I really do hope that Jon and Kate stay together, especially for the sake of the children who are all under the age of nine. It would be so sad, that after 3 years of filming their family, the series comes to an end because Jon and Kate get divorced. Only Kate with 8 just doesn’t sound like a show I would want to watch.
